Job Description Registered Nurse: Detox Center

Supervised by: Program Director Supervises: On duty CNA Hours: 20 to 40 per week

Basic Purpose For Detox Nurse : Responsible for the delivery and quality of nursing services provided at Wellsprings New Horizons Detox Program in coordination with the nursing and clinical counseling staff.

This position is considered essential personnel to Wellsprings staffing plan and plays a vital role in the security, safety, and critical operations of our residential programs. Employees are expected to be prepared with reliable transportation and caregiver coverage to report to regularly scheduled shifts including during inclement weather.

Qualifications For Detox Nurse :

  • Minimum registered Nurse (RN) with current State of Maine licensure
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders (COD)
  • Ability to work independently under medical protocol
  • Knowledge of medical services provision, with a preference in emergency department experience.
  • Ability and experience in supervising, training, motivating, and evaluating CNA staff.
  • Maturity and professionalism, with a sincere desire to work with recovering individuals.
  • Basic computer skills in word processing, e-mail, and Internet use.
  • Access to transportation.

General Description For Detox Nurse :

Wellspring provides trauma-informed care based upon principles of the Sanctuary Model. We provide a continuum of integrated trauma-informed treatment services for adults who are suffering from substance use disorders with co-occurring mental health problems. Our agency provides detox services, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and gender-specific residential treatment services, including residential treatment for pregnant women/new mothers. All Wellspring programs are located within the greater Bangor area.

Primary Responsibilities For Detox Nurse :

  • Admissions Oversee intake and admission to the program when on duty to ensure that admitted clients are appropriate candidates for treatment and to ensure adherence to state licensing, Medicaid regulations, and agency policy.
  • Client Provide leadership in the care and withdrawal stabilization of clients to the program, a clinical-managed residential detoxification program meeting program standards of ASAM Level 3.2 criteria.
  • Collaboration- Effectively works with other nursing staff, CNAs, and clinical counseling team to provide excellent client care.
  • Works with Medical provider during weekly rounds and consults by phone when needed
  • Professionalism Demonstrate high professional and ethical standards, and have a therapeutic approach of being empathetic, respectful, and motivational.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and high ethical and professional standards.

PERFORMANCE FACTORS For Detox Nurse:

Attendance and Dependability: Reports to work promptly at assigned hours and is seldom absent from work; submits accurate time sheets to the supervisor. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.

Communication and Contact: The employee communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, and other individuals inside and outside the company while maintaining confidentiality of all client related information.

Relationships with Others: Conveys a welcoming, empathic, hopeful attitude towards people with co-occurring conditions and supports a philosophy of dual recovery. Engages and welcomes people in ways that convey respect for diversity in a culturally appropriate way. Demonstrates high professional/ethical standards and works well with others as part of the treatment team. Has a therapeutic approach of being empathetic, respectful, and motivational, while encouraging clients to take responsibility for their lives.

Participates in the Sanctuary Model and incorporates Sanctuary values, principles, and tools in building a trauma informed treatment program.
