The Nursing Education and Practice Specialist supports nursing and clinical specialty programs at a system level in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of clinical education and practice initiatives. Specific activities will be defined by nursing leadership. Activities include but are not limited to planning and provision of General Nursing Orientation; development, review, revision and management of patient care standards; competency assessment, education of nursing staff in all specialties and assessment of staff learning needs.

This position is responsible for overseeing the system-wide deployment, education and training for Legacy’s de-escalation program (Welle©). The Welle© Coordinator is a culture change agent and will lead system-wide initiatives aimed at preventing workplace violence.

The Welle© Coordinator will serve as the expert resource for all elements of this evidence-based de-escalation program including:

  • Relationship Building
  • Managing challenging conversations
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Recognition of warning signs for potential violence
  • Verbal de-escalation strategies
  • Non-abusive physical protection and restraint



BSN or MSN/MN required; MSN/MN preferred.


Four years of experience in an acute care setting; preferred background in behavioral health.


Effective teaching and communication skills

Strong conflict resolution skills

Ability to mentor, coach and inspire teams

Strong organization and project management skills

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and leadership to implement change
