The Department of Child Support Services is recruiting for a Supervising Child Support Attorney who will supervise the daily operations of the attorney's unit and may supervise legal support staff and subordinate supervisors. Incumbents oversee the administration of complex civil and criminal cases, including paternity, support, interstate cases, and cases that may be highly visible or sensitive. Additionally, Supervising Child Support Attorneys provide staff development and training; participate in hiring and disciplinary actions; evaluate work performance of Child Support attorneys, legal support staff, and subordinate supervisors; recommend personnel actions; and review and evaluate disposition of difficult and sensitive cases.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
California Bar Membership : Applicants must possess and maintain active membership in the California Bar Association throughout County employment.
Work Assignment: The newly hired Supervising Child Support Attorney will be assigned to work in the Loma Linda branch office.
Travel: This position will be assigned to the Loma Linda office; however, travel to the other branch offices in Ontario and Victorville may be required to oversee the legal staff in those locations. The incumbent may also be required to travel to Child Support Court locations in San Bernardino and Barstow. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of liability insurance must be produced and maintained throughout employment.
Background : Applicants must pass a background investigation, including DOJ/FBI clearance, credit check, physical examination and drug test prior to appointment.
Bar License : Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar Association.

Experience (must meet one of the following):
Option 1: Three (3) years of experience as a Child Support Attorney within a county agency overseen by a State Department of Child Support Services.
Option 2: Four (4) years of attorney experience in child support, civil law, family law or a government agency which includes one (1) year as a senior attorney responsible for directing special projects or serving as a supervising or lead attorney.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who communicates effectively and supports the growth and development of their staff, demonstrates the ability to think strategically; has experience working collaboratively with legal and operational staff; and possesses a vision for how a local child support agency Attorney team can contribute to organizational success.
There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on the information provided in the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. The most highly qualified, based upon the results of the evaluation, may be referred for a selection interview.
