Position Summary Coordinates the referral laboratory process and facilitates the workflow in and out of the laboratory. With extensive attention to detail, works cooperatively with all hospital and laboratory staff, and external clients through verbal and written communications in order to resolve problems, exchange information, receive instructions, establish protocols, and process information concerning patient specimens. Conducts pre-analytical specimen preparation through centrifugation, aliquotting, storing, packaging and shipping prior to distribution to appropriate laboratories. Works collaboratively with staff regarding specimen collection, handling and shipping of diagnostic and research specimens. Monday-Friday: Various start times: 0600-1430, 0900-1730, and 0930-1800 Saturday and Sunday: 0600-1430 Every third weekend Both campuses *High school diploma or equivalent AND two to three years of experience in a laboratory or hospital setting required *Previous customer service experience preferred License/Certification/Registration required? No Education: *High School Degree or equivalent required Experience: *Previous customer service experience preferred *Two-Three years of laboratory or hospital setting experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *Proven ability to prepare specimens using appropriate laboratory techniques *Possesses outstanding professional and positive customer service skills *Demonstrates critical thinking skills *Must have excellent problem solving and follow up skills *Experience with healthcare computer information systems *Strong knowledge of medical terminology *Attention to detail *Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional, work independently and within a team *Demonstrates a forward thinking approach, continually looking for ways to improve processes, tools and resources to best serve the healthcare team and clients *Ability to train others *Computer skills *Detail oriented Physical Demands Please click here to view the Physical Demands All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
