Department Overview

The Radiology department provides a complete range of sedated and nonsedated diagnostic imaging procedures for major and minor pediatric surgery, disease, or injury. Twenty-four hour consultation services as well as education and outreach programs are available.

Position Summary

This role will be scheduled to work on our Minneapolis campus, Monday through Friday from 7:30am until 4:00pm.

The General Diagnostic Tech Lead is an integral member and expert on the designated team within the radiology department. Outside of performing all functions as a Technologist, the Lead will provide guidance, training and instruction to team members to align with the standards of Children's MN. In addition, the Lead will be responsible for communicating to the team - organization initiatives and goals, safety protocols and practices, and ensure the team is on track to meet any deadlines.

As an extension of leadership, the Lead will support and motivate the team to strive in providing the best care to our patients through coordinating day-to-day activities and procedures (scheduled and non-scheduled) as appropriate for the specialty area. In addition, the Lead will assist in hiring and on-boarding through training and mentoring. Throughout the employment cycle of the Technologists, it is the Lead's responsibility to ensure a collaborative, inclusive environment is established and maintained among the team. While the Lead will be the primary contact for the employees, it is the Lead's responsibility to provide feedback on performance and concerns raised directly to the Management team.

This role serves as a departmental resource and liaison to other departments within the organization. In addition, this role may require co-leading programs as it relates to the specialized area and work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement tactical initiatives.

Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
*Ensure regulatory requirements in partnership with Children's Minnesota leaders and committees
*Quality oversight of assigned area(s)
*Maintains incomplete exam reports
*Available for clinicians with questions and concerns during Lead work hours
*Troubleshoot problems and collaborate with managers on solutions
*Report issues with equipment to clinical equipment services or manager in a timely manner
*Lead and facilitate efficient clinical work flows
*Maintains core and universal competencies
*Completes any new required learning and ensures understanding among technologist staff

License/Certification/Registration required? Yes
*ARRT Registered
*Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Education:
*Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology

Experience:
*Two years post certification experience as a registered radiological technologist
*ARRT Advanced Certification preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Ability to provide expertise, work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff
*Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
*Knowledge of basic nursing practices related to the assigned area, including emergency procedures, sterile practices, infection control techniques and CPR
*Critical thinking skills
*Excellent ability to problem solve when approached with a question or concern
*Ability to adapt and pivot work priorities, such as when interrupted by staff
