The Industrial, Automotive + Advanced Manufacturing (IAAM) group is part of the science and technology practice that focuses on unique project types such as technical research and design centers, validation testing centers, and sustainable energy development and manufacturing centers. Projects involve a wide range of technical design elements such as test cells, clean rooms, laboratories, manufacturing spaces, industrial offices, and other high-performance environments. These unique projects allow for direct interaction with clients, contractors, and consultants, along with internal and external disciplines.

How will your days be spent

  • Responsible for leadership and coordination of project team members and consultants from project inception through completion.
  • Assist the Project Manager in directing and managing the project team and consultants, mentoring staff, and representing the firm to the client.
  • Deliver projects on schedule and within budget while making authoritative decisions and recommendations of significant impact related to the project.
  • Responsible for project and space planning, concept design, and execution of the project documents.
  • Interface with the client and lead weekly presentations and/or meetings. Actively participate in internal project team meetings and attend technical and consultant meetings.
  • Perform site visits to benchmark existing conditions and resolve issues encountered during construction administration.


What you bring to this role

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of architectural experience, with at least one year of recent Job Captain or Project Architect experience leading multi-disciplinary teams required.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously with multiple clients preferred.
  • Previous experience with integrating engineering systems into architectural designs and/or commercial, industrial, research and development, or applied manufacturing projects preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction standards, documentation, and detailing practices required. Full understanding of appropriate codes (municipal, state, UBC and ADA) and awareness of code changes required.
  • Excellent presentation, written, verbal, and graphics communication skills essential.
  • Travel of one or two times per month, two days per trip required.

Software:

  • Revit proficiency required.
  • AutoCAD proficiency preferred.
  • Experience with Rhino, SketchUp, 3D rendering software, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

Education:

  • Degree in architecture or related field required.
  • Professional registration and sustainability accreditation preferred.
