The Public Health Program, which is part of the Department of Urban Public Health and Nutrition, is seeking qualified applicants with experience in social and behavioral sciences, community health, health policy, and health education at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The new faculty member will teach and advise students across the public health curriculum (Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Master of Public Health Programs). The position is a one year appointment with possibility of renewal, effective for the Fall 2024 semester.
Essential Duties
  • Teach students at a high level of expertise.
  • Comply with the syllabus and accreditation guidelines of assigned courses, contributing revisions as needed.
  • Participate in faculty meetings as scheduled throughout the semester.
  • Attend and participate actively in program meetings and activities.
  • Evaluate course performance of students using course rubrics and/or other methods of evaluation.
  • Grade assignments for the course(s) as specified by the course syllabus.
  • Direct students on course assignments as specified in syllabi
  • Utilize La Salle University email, the La Salle Portal, and Canvas course software to communicate course and program information with students as relevant.
  • Provide remedial instruction for students, under the guidance of the Program Director or Coordinator.
  • Provide academic support for students in need of improving academic performance.
  • Participate in public health scholarship and practice.
  • Participate in program assessment and other accreditation guidelines.
  • Advise assigned students according to the school and program criteria and expectations.
  • Participate in recruitment and admissions activities as needed.
  • Support other Public Health Program and student needs as relevant.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Participate in service opportunities throughout the La Salle community.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a public health related field.
  • Demonstrated record of public health experience, including public health practice, teaching and scholarship.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching public health.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
