Senior Manager, COGS

Job Summary

In this position, the COGS Senior Manager will support our Merchandising business partners by providing high quality analytics and targeted negotiation strategy. The primary objective of the COGS Lead is to act as the internal financial consultant to facilitate and co-lead supplier negotiations. In this consultant role, the individual will analyze product costs, vendor financial performance, product engineering, supply chain, and store operations to identify potential savings on the products we sell.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Analysis/Problem Solving - Works to fully understand business; identify and implement process and organizational improvements. Plans and ensures execution of department objectives. Participates in preparation of the annual budget. Reviews monthly expenditures & metrics and ensures that budgetary goals are met.
  • Manage APG's end-to-end Supplier Cost Change approval process through robust cost justification analysis (commodity trends, vendor/industry economics, labor, FX, competitive insights, like-SKU analysis, etc.) and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Partner with Sourcing on Supplier Tenders through providing robust bid analysis and cost justification analysis (as described above)
  • Support pricing team with future recommendation and guided approach based on market justification & follow-up with negotiated outcome.
  • Leads, plans, and coordinates work teams in an efficient manner to effectively perform any financial function and activity; utilizes metrics to track performance and manage workload. Ensures operational processes and procedures are compliant and consist with established policies.
  • Operate as key functional partner in conjunction with Category Managers to optimize productivity across all categories.
  • Evaluate long term historical cost trends of associated commodities across in-scope categories, understanding both headwinds and tailwinds in negotiations with existing/prospective suppliers.
  • Establish executive level reporting of categorical product cost analytics to better assist Category Team & Procurement in determining most strategic supplier partnerships.

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years
  • MBA Finance or Accounting BS
  • Procurement or Global Sourcing
  • Financial Analysis
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills
  • Reports to Director of Procurement
  • Accountable for direct supervision, coaching, & development of the work activities of others.
  • Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required.
  • This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups.
  • Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.
